In part 1 of our blog series we had a closer look at what cloud computing is and how it improves business efficiency. In part 2 we show you 5 best practices for introducing cloud infrastructure.

5 Best Practices for Introducing Cloud Infrastructure

In 2020, spending on cloud infrastructure comprised an average of 37 percent of a company’s IT budget. That’s expected to only increase.

Companies ready to implement cloud infrastructure should take several steps to implement it correctly and cost-effectively. Make sure to:

  1. Perform an assessment before anything else. Understand all business processes, what technology is in place, and what can be reasonably accomplished.
  2. Identify needs then technology. Determine what the business needs to move forward strategically, then identify the right technology to get there.
  3. Train early and staff properly. Work with staff to mitigate the learning curve and consider bringing on trained experts in cloud engineering.
  4. Leverage automation. Automation helps reduce workloads, prevent errors, and allow workflows to achieve operational efficiency.
  5. Invest in observability infrastructure. Keeping your infrastructure observable can help spot problems and areas for improvement.

The Right Expertise for Every Project

Cloud computing represents one of the biggest opportunities for businesses to gain a competitive advantage. Whether using public resources or private clouds, this technology can be what sets a company apart from the rest.

However, just having powerful tools and technology isn’t enough. Get the right team together and the right experts who know how to implement, configure, and manage the cloud. With both top technology and the top talent, companies can unleash their full potential and thrive.
